a chapter of Pine Tree Quilters Guild of Maine
Eight members and one guest met this month
to make Vanishing 9-Patch lap quilts―one of the easiest patterns
we've done. Pieced 9-Patch blocks are cut into quarters and
scattered throughout the quilt to create this interesting design. Several who attended the workshop
will be giving quilts made today as Christmas gifts in December to
residents at Calais Methodist Homes, where we hold our meetings.
Member, Dana Bard, will be providing free machine quilting to six lucky
quilters who entered the machine quilting drawing. They include Jane
Eaton, Leona Juranty, Iva Kinney, Joanne Spencer, Marcia Carlow, and Sandy
Hill.
Thank you to Anita Johnson for inspiring us with her
November '08 Block of the Month.
This workshop was based on that block.

A proud Leona Juranty completely finished
her top at the workshop―mitered borders and all!
|
Iva Kinney also finished her top
using 96 different prints. |
Marcia Carlow made blocks using a variety of
very pretty purple fabrics |
Joanne Spencer gives Leona a lesson on mitered
borders,
"It's easy if you know a few tricks!".
|
Liz, Jane, and Joanne enjoy a morning tea and
banana bread break
|
Jen Lacasse chose some very soft colors
|
Liz Trouant worked with just three fabrics for her
Vanishing 9-Patch―a nice variation |
Leona and Marcia are having way too much fun!
|
Jane Eaton, who made her
blocks starting with 4" squares instead of 5", shares a placement technique
with Joanne
|
Joanne's blocks were made using all
Thimbleberries fabrics
|
Sandy Hill is pleased with her scrappy quilt |
Solid black accent fabric is a nice choice
in Bonnie Hunter's top |
