Donation Brings Food Pantry Cheer
"A recent donation to the Labor of Love Food Pantry in Eastport will
help provide meals for many families this holiday season. Liz
Trouant (left), second vice president of St. Croix Quilters, presented
Judy Knapp with the donation noting that it is better to give than to
receive." Collected at our recent Christmas party, the $230 cash
donation will allow the food pantry to purchase over $1840 in necessary
food for its shelves.

Donation Exceeds Expectations
Darlene MacLeod (left) accepts a donation from St.
Croix member Joanne Spencer
Darlene MacLeod, Executive Director of the Ronald
McDonald House in Bangor, was delighted when she received a $3017.00
donation from the St. Croix International Quilters.
She expected $2700. but Joanne Spencer, representing the quilters,
explained that when the final financial report was submitted to the
quild, there was more money raised from the sale of raffle tickets than
originally thought.
MacLeod said that “One hundred percent of the money stays here,” to help
more than 500 families served in a year. The families come from Central,
Northern, and Down East Maine.

Hospice Groups

presented lap quilts on behalf of members of St. Croix International
Quilters
to Kathy Jackson from Hospice of Charlotte (NB) and Barbara Barnett of Down
East Hospice (ME).
Other lap quilts will be made and donated by other members throughout 2013.
Book Shower for Sher

So much fun at the October business
meeting when we surprised Sher Acheson with a huge assortment of children's
books.
Sher and Brian are expecting a baby boy in December.
It's not often that we're able to celebrate the birth of a new baby in our
group; bless our young members.

Greenland Point Quilters Retreat
September 14-16, 2012
Sue McIver did a marvelous job planning our third
quilters retreat at Greenland Point Center.
Was so nice to see many old and new friends.
So nice to see former member, Jen Lacasse, who
now lives in Jackman
In addition to lots of quilting activities, Sue hosted
a basketmaking workshop!
As usual, Jon Speed, GPC Executive Director
was the life of the party, helped by quilter Dianne Finnegan!
Apprehensive at first, many ladies tried the
new zip line.
