Lemon Bread

2014 National Quilters Day in Meddybemps
Cream together:
1 cup white sugar
½ cup margarine
Beat 2 eggs, one at a time
1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
½ cup milk, added alternately with flour
Grated rind of lemon—I used a zester
Bake at 350° for one hour. Test with a toothpick.
When removed from oven pour the following mixture over top of hot bread:
Juice of 1 lemon
½ cup sugar
