A Weekend of Quilting Fun

Built in 1880, and opened as an Inn in 1982, the Homeport Inn is situated in the Washington County village of Lubec on a quaint, tree-lined street.  The Homeport Inn's Quilters' Retreat is created especially for your quilting group.  Come, relax and enjoy this beautiful inn in the company of friends, great food and, of course, quilting, quilting, quilting!  Plan to participate in a workshop or bring your own projects; there will be plenty of free time to gab, read, and sew into the wee hours.  Enjoy the comfortable rooms, sit by the fire in the living room and quilt or chat with friends.

Innkeepers Suzannah and David Gale offer overnight accommodations and weekend use of their Inn for quilters' retreats at an incredibly low, off-season rate.  Bonnie will work with them and your group to coordinate a retreat package just for you.  We offers many options including workshops, demonstrations, and other activities to make your retreat memorable.

Sunday Afternoon Fun

After enjoying a delicious pot luck lunch, members of Down East Quilters from the Machias, ME area worked feverishly to finish sewing that last piece, strip, or border onto their Scrap-ology and Smokey Mountain Stars workshop quilts.  Here they are adorning the stairway of the Inn with their show & tell of workshop quilts made at their April 25 & 26, 2009, retreat.

In addition to charming patchwork bags and door prizes donated by guild members, favorite quilt shops, and Bonnie, each member went home with a bevy of gifts.  Losers at Saturday night's scavenger hunt each won a quilters' tattoo (below).

Meals

To help keep costs low, your group will have full access to the Inn's kitchen (stove, refrigerator, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc.) for meal preparation whether it be pot luck or otherwise, so bring as much food as you like.

If you're lucky, one of your members will be a gourmet cook like this quilter who made homemade sticky buns for her retreat's breakfast. Doing your own meal preparation and clean-up won't diminish the feeling of elegant dining (below).
