Homeport Inn Quilters' Retreat

Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2007

Members pose in front of the Homeport Inn with their weekend projects
(l to r) Jen Lacasse, Liz Trouant, Wendy Candelmo, Anita Johnson, Cyril Francis, Eva Severance,
Nancy Southern, Sandy Hill, Joline Cook, Jane Eaton, Bonnie Hunter and Marcia Carlow

Built in 1880, and opened as an Inn in 1982, the Homeport Inn is situated in the village of Lubec, ME, on a quaint, tree-lined street.  We relaxed and enjoy this beautiful inn in the company of friends, great food
and, of course, quilting, quilting, quilting!

Our Workshop Space

Our work area was a delightfully decorated room which is the Inn's restaurant during the summer.

Saturday Evening Fun, we:

Saw Ellen Madden's collection of miniature quilts
Learned how to use Color Value Finders
Had Show and Tell
Participated in a Scavenger Hunt
Were introduced to Talking Quilts
Laughed all the way through a Fat and Lean Quarter Swap
Changed into 'jammies and sewed until after midnight

Jane showed a colorful quilt during Show & Tell

Liz's husband made 6" table risers for us to use on the cutting/pressing table.  They were great!
NO SORE BACKS!  Thanks, Pete!

Our Meals

Even though we did our own cooking and clean-up, we felt like we were being pampered.
Here gourmet cook, Wendy, adds glaze to her fresh-baked sticky cinnamon buns for Sunday breakfast.

We enjoyed our meals in a beautiful dining room (no paper plates here);
it was terrific food in the company of good friends.

Sunday Morning Walking Tour

Lubec Bandstand

Try this one, No try this one!

Mmm Mmm good!

Not only did we visit Monica's Chocolates, but we also
stopped at Bayside Chocolates, too!

Keen quilters' eyes notice an antique quilt in the window of a vacant house during our Sunday morning walk.

What a Great Weekend!

We're already thinking about future retreats.
