Unless otherwise noted, workshops and meetings take place at the Calais Methodist Homes Recreation Hall, Sunrise Circle, Palmer St., Calais, Maine (all times are US times).  Remember to pre-register and get a supply list for workshops you're interested in.

All workshops are open to the public as space permits; pre-registration is a must.

November 21
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

CANCELLED due to American Thanksgiving the following day!

Enjoy your family and friends (eat lots of pumpkin pie, too)!

December 5 Christmas Party, UPDATED TIMES conversation at 4:00, dinner at 5:00

Come join us for our annual party.  Bring a dish to share for a pot luck dinner.  If you would like to participate, also bring a gift for exchange and a donation for Sarah's House (SEE below).

Each year at our Christmas party, we collect donations for Sarah's House in Holden, ME.  It's not too early to begin collecting items and bring them to the party in December.

Below are items needed this year:

Wet and dry Swiffers
Laundry soap--unscented
Downey fabric softener--unscented
Chlorox wipes
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Napkins
Bottled water
Gummie fruit snacks
Dunkin Donut cards
Gas cards
and, of course, money is always needed

January 2, 2019 Wednesday Afternoon Workshop, 9 am to about 3 pm

9-noon  Sit & Sew until noon
1-3 pm  Sudoku Quilt Workshop
with Jude Clark.  Solve the mystery of the puzzzle while making a corresponding quilt.  Supply List  
January 5 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to about 4 pm

Annual Hospice Lap Quilt Workshop with Wanda Pollock.  There are two patterns from which to choose--Turning Twenty and Easy Street.  Regardless of the pattern you select to make, this is a "no homework" workshop meaning there are no fabrics to cut before the workshop.  Supply List 
January 16
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will be a demo of making St. Croix Quilters Name Tags with Bonnie Hunter

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

February 2 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to about 4 pm

Snowball Quilt with Theresa Wright.  It's a winter wonderland.  This quilt is a variation of the traditional snowball pattern and is easily made using the Mini Simple Folding Corners Ruler.  You won't want to miss learning this new technique.  Supply List   
February 6 Wednesday Afternoon Workshop, 9 am to about 3 pm

1-3 pm  Mason Jar Pincushion
with Jude Clark.  Need a handy place for pins and other sewing supplies?  This may be the workshop for you.  Supply List coming soon 
February 20
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will be a "Pound Party" to raise money for the education fund.  If you would like to donate a pound of anything--feathers, spaghetti, nails, fudge, buttons, etc. put it in a brown paper bag and bring it to the meeting.  Sight unseen, members will have a chance to bid on some fabulous or fun items!

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

March 2 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to about 4 pm

Northern View Quilt with Joanne Spencer.  Designer Lidia Froehler of Cotton Treasure Design created Northern View for Quilt Sampler spring/summer 2012 magazine.  She invokes images of Canada with mountain units, maple leaf blocks and flying geese units radiating from the center star.  It is truly a Canadian quilt that you can make in two sizes-- 75 " x 75 " and 95 " x 95 ".  Image   Supply List

Program will be Fools for Binding Tools with Marlene Wilbur.

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

April 3 Wednesday evening workshop 6-8 pm

Shadow Applique with Mary Ann O'Brien.  It is sometimes referred to as shadow quilting where an applique design is overlaid with a sheer or translucent fabric creating a 'shadow' effect.  Traditionally, shadow applique is used to create elegant designs that have an inhrent softness, due to shading and subtleties created during the overlay process.   Supply List coming soon
April 6 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to about 4 pm

Simply Cool Quilt, designed by Pleasant Valley Creations, will be taught by Bonnie Hunter.  This quilt is super easy to make.  If you can sew a 4-patch, you can make this quilt.  Lots of color suggestions on page 2 of the supply list.  Supply List  
April 17
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will be Brainstorming Ideas for a New Banner Design faciliated by Bonnie Hunter.  Members are encouraged to bring in lots of ideas.

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

May 1 Wednesday evening workshop, 6-8 pm

Special guest will be Pam Williams, who will talk about and show vintage sewing machines. 
May 4 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to 4 pm

Jelly Roll Rug with Joline Cook and Joanne Spencer.  Learn tips and tricks to make beautiful and colorful jelly roll rugs.  All you need is some pre-cut batting and a jelly roll of fabric!

Program will be How to Make Waxed Fabric with Sue Martell.

June 1 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to 4 pm

Happy Villages with Lynds Duplissea.  Explore the freedom of fabric collage!  No seams to piece or match, no lines to trace..just free-form cutting of step and window shapes.  Step by step your little village will magically come to life.  A layer of tulle and machine stitching will complete your project.  Finished size 16 " square.  Supply List
June 5 Wednesday evening workshop, 6-8 pm

Quilting Design with Graph Paper with Jane Eaton, who will share her techniques of working with blocks of varying sizes in designing quilts.  Supply List coming soon
