Unless otherwise noted, workshops and meetings take place at the Calais Methodist Homes Recreation Hall, Sunrise Circle, Palmer St., Calais, Maine (all times are US times).  Remember to pre-register and get a supply list for workshops you're interested in.

All workshops are open to the public as space permits; pre-registration is a must.

May 15
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will be How to Make Waxed Fabric with Sue Martell.

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

May 18
Area 5 Spring Meeting, hosted by Down East Quilters, 11 am, Columbia Town Hall

$3 donation
Brown bag lunch, beverages and desserts will be provided

Saturday Workshop, 9 am to 4 pm  RESCHEDULED WORKSHOP

Northern View Quilt
with Joanne Spencer.  Designer Lidia Froehler of Cotton Treasure Design created Northern View for QuIlt Sampler spring/summer 2012 magazine.  She invokes images of Canada with mountain units, maple leaf blocks, and flying geese radiating from the center star.  It is truly a Canadian quilt that you can make in two sizes-- 75 " x 75 " and 95 " x 95 ". June 5 Wednesday evening workshop, 6-8 pm

Fabric Postcards with Bonnie Hunter.  These 4" x 6" cards are fun to make and fabulously fun to receive; a wonderful way to send a special personalized message to a friend or relative.   Fabric lovers will enjoy cutting snippets from their stash.  Supply List   
June 19
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will be a demonstration of a Flanged Binding with Marilyn Wimmergren.

All Chapter Challenges are due--completely finished.

Election of Officers--Secretary, 2nd Vice President and President.

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

June 22 SPECIAL Saturday Workshop, 9 am to 3 pm

Dove in the Window Raffle Quilt Workshop.  Thank you to everyone who donated batik fabrics for this project; it is very much appreciated.

Join us to help construct this stunning quilt while learning a new pattern and techniques like using Thangles (R); you will be amazed how accurate you can make half-square triangles.  Please bring your sewing machine, cord, manual, sewing supplies and rotary cutting equipment.  A follow-up workshop will be held on July 6.  PHOTO

July 6 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to 3 pm

Dove in the Window Raffle Quilt Workshop.  Let's gather to put the finishing touches on the raffle quilt to benefit the Ronald McDonald Charities in Maine and New Brunswick.

Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will be Fusible Applique, blanket stitch, and other applique stitch techniques with Joline Cook.

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

August 3 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to 4 pm

Watermelon Picnic with Bonnie Hunter.  This easy scrap quilt by Teri Christopherson features simple log cabin blocks with appliqued seeds for a sweet finishing touch.  Or, you may want to choose to make a traditional log cabin using a variety of light and dark fabrics. 

Come to the workshop prepared to do some sewing, have a picnic lunch and enjoy lots of watermelon fun and prizes!  In addition, for every log cabin block you make at the workshop, you get a chance to win a picnic basket similar to the one pictured on the pattern.

August 7 Wednesday evening workshop, 6-8 pm

Atlantic Flyway (Part 1) created by Deb Tucker will be taught by Bonnie Hunter and Joanne Spencer.  Using 2 workshops, a Wednesday in August and a Saturday in September, you will learn two new techniques for making Flying Geese (one using Deb's Wing Clipper I Ruler) while making a lovely wall quilt.  Atlantic Flyway is named for the migratory path of waterfowl, shorebirds, and songbirds of the North American East Coast.

August 21
Wednesday Business Meeting, 6 pm

Program will special guest, local Shriner, Jim Myers.  His group sponsors the annual Feztival of Trees.

We'll also have a 2-minute tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

September 4 Wednesday evening workshop, 6-8 pm

Feztival of Trees Open Sew for members who will be helping Mary Ann and Anita make homemade ornaments for St. Croix Quilters tree.  Contact one of them for further details. 
September 7 Saturday workshop, 9 am to 4 pm
