Unless otherwise noted, workshops and meetings take place at the Calais Methodist Homes Recreation Hall, Sunrise Circle, Palmer St., Calais, Maine (all times are US times).  Remember to pre-register and get a supply list for workshops you're interested in.

All workshops are open to the public as space permits; pre-registration is a must.

2018

June 2 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to about 4 pm

Sticks and Stones, designed by Missouri Star Quilt Co., will be taught by Peggy Sawyer and Bonnie Hunter.  This is a simple jelly roll pattern that creates a stunning quilt.

Wednesday evening workshop, 6-8 pm

Quilting Techniques 101  A marvelous collection of quilting basics for beginners and quilters of all ages.  Demonstrations will include the following members and their topics:

Mary Ann     Pressing vs ironing, direction of pressing, swirling seams, squaring a quilt

Mary Louise How to add borders
                 How to stitch using a 1/4" inch and "scant" 1/4" seam allowance

Liz              Using rotary cutters, mats and rulers:  determining bias/grain of fabric,
                  measuring and cutting, and squaring a block

Jude           Determining number and size of blocks to make a particular size quilt

June 20

Election of Officers--Treasurer (Mary Ann O'Brien) and First Vice President (Joanne Spencer) for 2-year terms and President (Bonnie Hunter) to fulfill remain one-year term.

We'll also have a 2-Minute Tip, Show & Tell, Fabric Drawing, and light refreshments.

June 22

Let's Flamingle! 

Members of St. Croix Int'l Quilters have been invited to attend Down East Quilters' annual summer picnic.  Jacksonville Methodist Church, Rt. 191, E. Machias, 2 pm.

You have been asked t either wear pink and/or something that features famingoes.

July 4 No Wednesday evening workshop this month.  Happy Independence Day!

July 7 Saturday Workshop, 9 am to about 4 pm

Paper Piecing with Mary Louise Peters.  This is your chance to learn how to paper piece!  You can choose from two pattrns:  The Lone Starburst pattern is great for beginners and for those who want to improve their paper-piecing skills, the Pineapple Splash pattern is more challenging.  See supply list for photos.

Sewing Machine Know-How, Troubleshooting and Maintenance with Bob Numrych of The Cotton Cupoboard Quilt Shop in Bangor, 10 am to 12 noon.

Machine Quilting Using a Walking Foot with well-known quilter, Linda Hubbard of Fredericton.  Details and Supply List coming soon.  There will be a small charge for this class.

Location will be the Union Street Baptist Church in St. Stephen, NB.
