Kentucky Sugar Cookies

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. almond extract
4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda

Beat the butter, oil, both sugars well using medium speed with mixer.  Then add eggs, vanilla and almond.  Combine the dry ingredients, blend with the first mixture, and mix well. Bake at 350° for 9-10 minutes until lightly browned.  This recipe makes a big batch and they're freezer-friendly.
